Overview

We're planning to release a new method for recording meetings inside Claras. This introduces significant improvements over the existing live transcription method.

What's different?

Rather than transcribing the meeting in real-time, this new feature records the audio and transcribes it during the processing stage. This approach brings several key benefits:

Improved accuracy

Transcribing the meeting after it's been completed results in a significantly more accurate transcript, especially when it comes to separating and identifying speakers. As a result, you'll get a more accurate file note and spend less time making corrections.

More reliable

The current live transcription feature requires your computer to maintain a constant connection to the server that handles transcription. If there are interruptions in that network connection, it may prevent the meeting from recording properly. Some IT setups also have network restrictions that can cut the connection if the computer goes to sleep, or even prevent live transcription from starting at all.

The new recording method eliminates these issues by storing audio locally first, then uploading it progressively.

Ability to move around

You don't need to remain on the meeting page when the new recording is running. It will follow you around wherever you go inside Claras and display the name of the client you're recording against. This means you can open up their profile and view previous file notes, documents, or attachments while recording. Simply click the client's name to jump back to the meeting again.

Option to pause and resume

The new recording allows you to easily pause if required and resume when you're ready. And if you accidentally refresh the page, either during the meeting or before finalising the recording, the recorder will still be there waiting for you.

Easier microphone permissions

We've improved the experience when it comes to enabling access to your microphone. The system now clearly guides you through the permission process and won't let you accidentally start the meeting if your microphone isn't enabled.

What's the same?

Workflow speed

You won't need to wait for the recording to upload after the meeting ends. The recording uploads progressively as you go, so the meeting is ready for processing as soon as you finish.

Shared logins

If you share your login with another team member, there's still a risk of being logged out of Claras and your recording not getting saved while logged out.

Timeline for rollout

At this stage we're planning for a broader rollout during September. We'll communicate this change to everyone once an exact date has been set. Until then, you can enable the new recorder via the early access option on the side bar.
