Live Recording

This guide explains how live recording works when you capture a client meeting directly in Claras.

Overview

Live recording lets you capture a meeting straight from your browser, with no extra apps and no files to upload afterwards. Claras saves the audio on your device as you record, uploads it progressively, then transcribes it once you finish. Because transcription happens after the meeting rather than in real time, you get a more accurate result with less to correct.

Live recording is one of several ways to capture a meeting. For the step by step, and for recording phone or virtual meetings, see the Recording Guide.

What to expect

Accurate transcripts

Claras transcribes your meeting after it finishes rather than in real time. This produces a more accurate transcript, and separates and identifies each speaker far more reliably. As a result, your file note needs fewer corrections and takes less time to finalise.

Reliable capture

Your audio is saved on your device first, then uploaded progressively as you record. This means a brief drop in your network connection, a computer going to sleep, or the strict network rules some IT setups apply won't stop your meeting from being captured.

Move around while you record

You don't need to stay on the meeting page while recording. The recorder follows you wherever you go in Claras and shows the name of the client you're recording. You can open their record to review previous file notes, documents or attachments during the meeting, then click the client's name to jump straight back.

Pause and resume

Pause the recording whenever you need to and resume when you're ready. If you accidentally refresh the page, either during the meeting or before you finalise the recording, the recorder is still there waiting for you.

Guided microphone access

Claras guides you through granting microphone access and won't let you start a meeting until your microphone is enabled. This prevents the common problem of finishing a meeting only to find no audio was captured.

Ready as soon as you finish

Because the audio uploads progressively as you record, there's no waiting for a large file to upload when the meeting ends. The meeting is ready to process the moment you stop recording. If you leave and open the meeting later, set the participant count and click Start Processing when the recording is ready on the meeting.

If you share a login with another team member, you can be logged out of Claras while recording, which stops the recording from being saved. Use your own login so your recording is always kept.
